Help needed with making a good picture of minis for this forum. 16 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

need some help or advice of how to make the best possible picture of the minis for display here on this site.
I have a scanner but I'm not satisfied with the result.
When I make a picture with my digital camera (Sony DSC-V1) I have the problem the flash is shown in the picture.

Who can help ? Answer here or to my home snake@home.nl

thanks,

Eric.

I am no expert but, for the mini LPs I use a scanner and I actually bought a new printer/scanner for that purpose - I got an HP on sale. For boxes I use a Cannon digital camera. I set the flash to off and take pictures in daylight, or use a cheap clip-light clipped to a chair. Then I open the picture in photoshop and crop the picture to get rid of the excess space in the picture around the edge of the box.

Thanks,

I now make the pictures at daylight and they improve a lot.
I make them with 5 mb for 1 picture and reduce the space by using the (free) programm PIXRESIZER.
If you take a look at the Slade and the Damned titles, I think they are usefull.

As far as editing the image once you've captured it.

Try one or more of these:
http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/pixelbasedwin/tp/freephotoedw.htm

Here are the steps to the process so you need one that does these reasonably well (most of them should easily do all of them).
1) "Rotate" the image so it's orientated correctly (by degrees)
2) "Select" the part of the image (usually a rectangle) that you want to "Crop"
3) "Crop" the image
4) "Resize" it (for the minilps site that's usually 600pixels width max)
5) Save the image as a jpeg at 50% "quality"

Front cover (main) image of WPCR-13142 (fake) : Led Zeppelin : Fake Led Zeppelin - 40th Anniversary Definitive Collection (Zoso Box)
WPCR-13142 (fake) : 2009-01-01

This fake Led Zeppelin 40th Anniversary appears to be made in China. You would find it hard to pick a sealed copy of this as being anything other than than the real deal.

Inside it is also remarkably similar but has some significant, obvious differences in packaging including: (a) the CD comes in a flimsy loose fitting bag (b) Physical Graffiti has no cut out windows and (c) III (3) has no turning wheel.

The CDs also have the tell tale extra ring in the middle but this is much better disguised than usual.

Unusually for fakes these have the catalogue number and an IFPI code (CC 303) on the silver side of the disc.

Front cover (main) image of UICY-94827 : Mike Oldfield : Q.E.2 Deluxe Edition
UICY-94827 : 2012-09-12
Universal Music : Cardboard sleeve (mini LP) reissue from Mike Oldfield featuring the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD players) and using the remaster audio made in UK in 2012. The cardboard sleeve faithfully replicates the UK first press LP plus a cardboard sleeve jacket based on a new design. Comes with a description written by Mike Oldfield himself and lyrics. Part of a two-album Mike Oldfield SHM-CD cardboard sleeve reissue series featuring albums "Platinum" and "Q.E.2."

Front cover (main) image of MHCP-1002 : Santana : Lotus
MHCP-1002 : 2006-06-07

Recorded in early July 1973 this album took nearly a year to make it to streets.

One of the most elaborate record covers ever produced and probably the most elaborate so far to make it to mini LP release. It is nearly impossible to capture the splendour of this on a web site but we shall try...

Front cover (main) image of UICY-93013-38 : Rolling Stones (The) : In the 60's
UICY-93013-38 : 2006-03-16

2006 (reprinted at least once) release of Stones albums from the earliest days up to 1975. Does not include the early 70s releases.

Each album included a collector card. The backs of the cards, when laid side by side, formed the cover image of "Their Satanic Majesties Request".

Front cover (main) image of EMICD-11228 : Pink Floyd : Oh By The Way: European Box Set
EMICD-11228 : 2007-11-26

16 CD box set - being 14 studio albums including 2 doubles.

According to Pink Floyd Brain Damage site there were a few glitches with this release, the most notable being a misprinting of the inner bag for the second CD in "The Wall".

There are also cases of an album being missed out and duplicates in their places.

The later Japanese release of this box set is basically identical to this box set.

Poor quality fakes exist for this set - more details below.

The original Japanese individual releases are regarded as being of a much higher quality to either of these box sets.

You can see a YouTube video of this set on the videos page.

Front cover (main) image of UICY-93980 : Stewart, Rod : Sing It Again Rod +5
UICY-93980 : 2009-02-25
Rod's first 'greatest hits' album with a fantastic, die-cut sleeve.
