Pink Floyd Box set 16 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 2
I was near shocked watching in the HMV´s japanese mini lps pre-reserves area a Pink Floyd Box set scheduled for november 26.

I Pushed the link inmediately and it was in fact an Emi UK release. 16 disk including a DVD.

But... the japanese comments in that page talks about a december japanese release or something. The japanese translation of the comments was made by google but... who knows?

Cheers

Domingo

hi Sam / Keith,

this is the link!!! http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/latest/pink-floyd-mini-vinyl-studio-box-set.html

and this is a UK version mini lp box - so i expect the sleeves to be thinner. I was thinking of selling my Pink Floyd mini lp set but decided against it as i have a gut feel that the new box would be not same quality of sleeves as the jap mini lps

the cheapest you can get is on amazon.de and it is around US$ 230 with shipping [if you're outside Europe and there is no VAT applicable]
http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000X1LH6C/braindamage0f-21

This is my first post and must i say this is a real cool looking forum!!!

Sam - way to go mate!!

cheers,

Arvind

OK.....this is the big question. When for the Japanese release and how much? $230 US for this many CD's is really good. What is the remaster on these? I hope they went DSD.

Keith,

there is no clear information on remastering or DSD at all.

The only bits and pieces i can add up are that all the albums are geeting re-released on Feb 4, 2008 - which could be new mastering [else why would they release the albums]. If you sort the pink floyd albums by "release dates" on amazon sites you will find all albums slated for Feb 4, 2008 release...

obviously the box and these releases will be same sound sources as no one in right mind will use earlier masters for the box and remasters for Feb 4, 2008 releases... There is not enough information to conjecture at this stage...

Let us see what these sites say in a few days from now.

cheers,

Arvind

It´s not sure the japanese release. Was something in a customer coment.

When this EU release will come out we will know but right now I will conserve my entire japanese collection for sure.

Yes - Arvind mentioned to me that the covers are quite likely going to be thinner than the earlier Japanese releases - the old ones are certainly a benchmark in packaging.

POCP-9194 to POCP-9208 & 9212/3 : 1999-09-29
The first edition of the first series of mini LPs for the Who (target obis) came with inserts that were pre-punched. A binder and T-Shirt accompanied the release. It is not clear how these were obtained but it seems likely that the small yellow coupon on the obi would have been snipped off and the folder at least was awarded on surrendering the full set of coupons.

ARC-7003 : 2002-03-27

Rare Italian Progressive rock album from the Trident label.

Images for this release show two different types of obis for original (sticker) and reprints (paper) of this release.

Rod's first 'greatest hits' album with a fantastic, die-cut sleeve.

UICY-9522 (fake) :

Here is a comparison between a genuine official copy of Aerosmith Pump made by Universal and a Russian counterfeit copy. In the picture, the real one is on the left and the fake is on the right.

Front cover (main) image of UICY-93013-38 : Rolling Stones (The) : In the 60's
UICY-93013-38 : 2006-03-16

2006 (reprinted at least once) release of Stones albums from the earliest days up to 1975. Does not include the early 70s releases.

Each album included a collector card. The backs of the cards, when laid side by side, formed the cover image of "Their Satanic Majesties Request".

Front cover (main) image of Die Cut Covers : Hall of Fame : Die Cut Covers
Die Cut Covers :

Die cutting of the cover image or inserts is probably the most common technique employed to create gimmick covers. It's probably also in most cases the cheapest.

There are thousands of die cut covers. Here are a few of the more popular and best known releases.
