Hi ehadas1,

I have also got a copy of Disraeli Gears (mine came from Disk Union) and it also has the UICY-6196 on the underside of the disc.

In fact my full set of Cream issues have miss-matches on the release IDs as follows:
  1. Fresh UICY-9150 = UICY-6195

  2. Disraeli Gears UICY-9151 = UICY-6196

  3. Wheels of Fire UICY-9152-53 = UICY-6197-98

  4. Goodbye UICY-9154 = UICY-6159

  5. Live Cream UICY-9155 = UICY-6200

  6. Live Cream Vol. 2 UICY-9156 = UICY-6201

There are a number of mini LP reprints of these CDs - not sure if they are all the same - mine are from late 2006.

I don't have any Lynyrd Skynyrd but I imagine it's the same situation.

Mini LPs definitely use old remasters (more often than not) but that does not mean they will use the other releases numbering on the underside of the disc. I guess that's either company policy or just laziness.

I have seen fakes that have the "real" release number on the underside of the disc (but I think this is uncommon). Here an example (Aerosmith Pump):

This is not what is used to spot a fake. The main tell tale sign of a fake as far as numbering is concerned is the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) number. This is the number that most often omitted in fakes.

Fakes will often also not have the bar code type stamps on the underside of the CD.

We are compiling a list of known fakes with the aim of making it safer for us all to spot and avoid fakes.

Sam.

Front cover (main) image of WPCR-13142 (fake) : Led Zeppelin : Fake Led Zeppelin - 40th Anniversary Definitive Collection (Zoso Box)
WPCR-13142 (fake) : 2009-01-01

This fake Led Zeppelin 40th Anniversary appears to be made in China. You would find it hard to pick a sealed copy of this as being anything other than than the real deal.

Inside it is also remarkably similar but has some significant, obvious differences in packaging including: (a) the CD comes in a flimsy loose fitting bag (b) Physical Graffiti has no cut out windows and (c) III (3) has no turning wheel.

The CDs also have the tell tale extra ring in the middle but this is much better disguised than usual.

Unusually for fakes these have the catalogue number and an IFPI code (CC 303) on the silver side of the disc.
