New Kraftwerk boxet named 'Catalogue' 14 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
I have been allways waiting for some japanese releases of Kraftwerk albums but it never came. One interesting release (november 2009) is their 'Catalogue' with 8 cd's in a beautiful packaging with a lot of artwork. Not exactly mini's but the cd's are packaged in some cardboard sleeves worth of mention. I bought this big boxset. Any of you ever saw some Kraftwerk japan mini"s ??? What about the russian releaeses we can see sometimes on Ebay ?

Clodius

Hi Clodius,

Are the Kraftwerk "minis" square (same size all sides) or are they same size as digipaks / jewel cases (top and bottom longer than sides)?

As far as I know there are no Japanese mini Kraftwerk.

I have not seen the Russian Kraftwerk.

Sam.

Hi Sam

The Kraftwerk sleeves are square measuring 126mm x 126mm. The CD fits very tight inside consequently. You can see what the boxset looks like on Amazon by clicking 'Kraftwerk catalogue'. Even on Youtube you can find a lot of promotional clips about the boxset.

You can check the full contents of this boxset on a wonderfully made clip on Youtube under: Kraftwerk ''Der Catalogue'' unboxing

Yes Claude, the Kraftwerk Catalogue is spectacular. I preordered a copy as soon as I heard about it. The mastering (not remastering) is so clear that you would think that the original CD's were mastered in a room full of treacle (except for Tour De France Soundtracks, which to my humble ear, has not changed at all).
The 'mini' sleeves couldn't be classed as 'mini LP sleeves' as most have been changed.

What I would love to see, Kraftwerk-wise:

1. The Catalogue as a mini LP box set (original covers, of course.
2. The first 3 album remastered and put out on mini LP.
3. The Organisation album (pre-Kraftwerk output from Hutter & Schneider) mini LP (great artwerk! ha ha)
4. A Kraftwerk singles box set (a la Queen).

This is semi-related but anyone thinking of ordering the "Japanese" version of 'The Catalogue', be warned that it is the English version, directly imported from the EU. An obi and some liner notes have been added but that's all, so the if you buy it, you're paying a lot extra for an obi.

Recorded in early July 1973 this album took nearly a year to make it to streets.

One of the most elaborate record covers ever produced and probably the most elaborate so far to make it to mini LP release. It is nearly impossible to capture the splendour of this on a web site but we shall try...
