First, it depends on the person who did the" remastering". Second, if you do not want to spend a fortune for a SACD player, the SHM is the best with a good cd player !

Sorry to bring back an old thread. But, not all SACD players cost a fortune. A Universal player from OPPO.com for example ranges from $200-$600. As with most electronics prices are coming down and most new Universal disk players coming on the market now are including SACD.

If I have a choice between CD and SACD I always go for the SACD because the sound quality is almost always better and it usually includes a 5.1 Surround track in addition to stereo. Hybrid SACDs include an additional ordinary CD track playable on any CD player. But in order to playback the SACD track a SACD compatible player is a must. I will reserve my opinion about SHM for some other time.

Also, desirable OOP SACDs easilly fetch over $100. I happen to own Kraftwerk's Minimum-Maximum OOP SACD which goes for a cool $1000!

Front cover (main) image of Caroline-2008 : Various Artists : Caroline Records 2009 US Releases
Caroline-2008 : 2008-08-05

In late 2008 Caroline Records in the USA released a number of albums by the following artists: UFO, Jethro Tull, Quicksilver Messenger, Brian Eno, Roxy Music, The Raspberries, Kate Bush, Blondie, The Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Van Der Graaf Generator (full list below).

Unlike the suspect Universal releases these are 100% Japanese. The only difference between these and the Japanese (apart from being as much as 50% cheaper) is a sticker on the bar code of the obi.

As at March 2009 most of these are still available at Amazon.

MHCP-1002 : 2006-06-07

Recorded in early July 1973 this album took nearly a year to make it to streets.

One of the most elaborate record covers ever produced and probably the most elaborate so far to make it to mini LP release. It is nearly impossible to capture the splendour of this on a web site but we shall try...

2006 (reprinted at least once) release of Stones albums from the earliest days up to 1975. Does not include the early 70s releases.

Each album included a collector card. The backs of the cards, when laid side by side, formed the cover image of "Their Satanic Majesties Request".
