I have 2 Weather Report Sony Mastersound cds
SRCS 9143 MYSTERIOUS TRAVELLER
SRCS 9145 BLACK MARKET
both without the obi strip
I don't think they were ever included when I bought them in the late 90's
Are they worth anything without the obi strip or as a collector would I
be better going for the new pressing with the red obi?

Hi,

Firstly, without obis the resale value of a run of the mill mini (like these - there have been 3 releases and at least one reprint) is definitely less but not necessarily that much less (they are not worth that much anyway).

There has been a lot of debate (mostly in the Japanese Import CDs Yahoo Group) on the topic of "as a collector would I be better..."

I've summarised that to some degree (my slant on anyway) in the FAQs of this site (follow the link in this post).

In this case specifically, if I was in your position, if I came across the newer ones with obis at a bargain price I'd be tempted but otherwise I think I'd just hang to what I've got.

Sam.

Front cover (main) image of LIST-007 : Quintessence Editions : 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die
LIST-007 : 2006-02-07

This is a work in progress project and due to its size it will take some time to finish.

Book cover images from different countries are welcome (or the ones included but with better image resolution).

Front cover (main) image of UICY-93013-38 : Rolling Stones (The) : In the 60's
UICY-93013-38 : 2006-03-16

2006 (reprinted at least once) release of Stones albums from the earliest days up to 1975. Does not include the early 70s releases.

Each album included a collector card. The backs of the cards, when laid side by side, formed the cover image of "Their Satanic Majesties Request".

Front cover (main) image of BVCM-37083 : Presley, Elvis : Elvis Presley
BVCM-37083 : 2000-01-08
This is the eponymous first album from Elvis Presley. It is the first rock & roll album to reach number one on the national charts (holding at number 1 for 20 weeks) and the first million dollar selling pop album.
Front cover (main) image of hudson-pf01 : Pink Floyd : Hudson Dark Side of the Moon Box
hudson-pf01 : 2008-01-01

A unique creation from Kerry Hudson design. Lavishly sculptured and finished, this felt lined wooden box stand holds all regular sized Pink Floyd Mini vinyl LP replica covers along with a selection of DVDs.

The ultimate gift for the Pink Floyd fan who has everything. (The box is currently for sale from the sculptor. Contact details can be found here.)

This was Kerry's second homage to an artist's releases on Mini LP, the first being Hudson Genesis Box Mach I.

Front cover (main) image of MHCP-1002 : Santana : Lotus
MHCP-1002 : 2006-06-07

Recorded in early July 1973 this album took nearly a year to make it to streets.

One of the most elaborate record covers ever produced and probably the most elaborate so far to make it to mini LP release. It is nearly impossible to capture the splendour of this on a web site but we shall try...

Front cover (main) image of UICY-9522 (fake) : Aerosmith : Pump (Real of Fake?)
UICY-9522 (fake) :

Here is a comparison between a genuine official copy of Aerosmith Pump made by Universal and a Russian counterfeit copy. In the picture, the real one is on the left and the fake is on the right.
