Def Leppard Mini-LP Replicas and SHM-CD 15 Years, 12 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello,

I just registered and this is my first posting to this forum. For many years, I have been collecting vinyl and CDs (especially those in the mini-LP design).

Anyway, I have a couple of the upcoming cardboard reissues of Def Leppard on order:

On Through The Night
High 'n' Dry
Pyromania
Hysteria
Adrenalize

These reissues are among the many that Universal Music Japan is releasing as SHM-CD (Super High Material CD). It is supposed to offer "improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head" (quote taken from CD Japan site). Does anyone know if this is pretty accurate? Does anyone have any SHM-CDs? Thanks.

I hate to say this to you, but your mini lps are russian fakes at 99.9%. This is the first Japanese Mini LP release for Def Leppard.

And about your question, yes SHM-CD has better sound quality than normal japanese remasters and way better than USA or european remasters.

I think you might have misunderstood - he has pre-ordered them from CDJapan - he does not own them yet

Thanks for the reply. This is one of the reasons I order from CD Japan, so that I am assured of getting the real thing, not to mention and pay the actual retail price and not the inflated mark-ups from. From CD Japan, these Def Leppard titles are a little over $25 US. If you pre-order them from Amazon.com, they are $47.99.

Anyway, I guess I'll see what they are like when I receive them. BTW, I just added an image for my avatar in case you could not guess where my SN originated.

Front cover (main) image of WPCR-13142 (fake) : Led Zeppelin : Fake Led Zeppelin - 40th Anniversary Definitive Collection (Zoso Box)
WPCR-13142 (fake) : 2009-01-01

This fake Led Zeppelin 40th Anniversary appears to be made in China. You would find it hard to pick a sealed copy of this as being anything other than than the real deal.

Inside it is also remarkably similar but has some significant, obvious differences in packaging including: (a) the CD comes in a flimsy loose fitting bag (b) Physical Graffiti has no cut out windows and (c) III (3) has no turning wheel.

The CDs also have the tell tale extra ring in the middle but this is much better disguised than usual.

Unusually for fakes these have the catalogue number and an IFPI code (CC 303) on the silver side of the disc.

POCP-9194 to POCP-9208 & 9212/3 : 1999-09-29
The first edition of the first series of mini LPs for the Who (target obis) came with inserts that were pre-punched. A binder and T-Shirt accompanied the release. It is not clear how these were obtained but it seems likely that the small yellow coupon on the obi would have been snipped off and the folder at least was awarded on surrendering the full set of coupons.

WPCR-13295 : 2009-01-14

Fifth studio album, featuring Talking Heads only US Top Ten hit, Burning Down The House (including an alternative version as a bonus, and an unfinished outtake of Two Note Swivel).

This version is a reproduction of the limited edition clear vinyl version designed by artist Robert Rauschenberg, who won a Grammy Award for his work.
