Hi,

I read a while ago that there is a remaster coming of the live cd : Song remains the same.
I think all of their other releases are already remastered so I don't expect any 'new'remasters.

Hi,

this is the latest news from RHINO records about Led Zeppelin.

LED ZEPPELIN'S MOTHERSHIP LANDS

Next month Atlantic Records/Rhino Entertainment will release Mothership, a 24-track, two-CD comprehensive collection spanning all eight of Led Zeppelin's classic studio albums. Mothership includes landmark songs such as “Whole Lotta Love,” “Immigrant Song,” “Kashmir,” “Rock And Roll,” “Dazed And Confused,” and “Stairway To Heaven,” as well as new liner notes by famed rock writer David Fricke. A week later expanded and remastered versions of The Song Remains The Same concert film and soundtrack album hit stores, featuring music from the band's three-night stint at Madison Square Garden in July 1973 with six additional songs not included on the original release. These discs are available for pre-order now at www.mothershipiscoming.com

Good news for the SONG REMAINS THE SAME.

eric.

The new The Song Remains The Same release is not a remaster but what Jimmy Page is calling a "revisit." They are reissuing the DVD and were not allowed (due to legal issues) to edit the video but they could edit the audio. Three consecutive concerts were recorded at MSG at the end of the '73 american tour. In the original movie, some audio parts were switched out to a different night's audio because of "mistakes." That caused the video to be out of sync with the audio. Where possible, for the new issue, Kevin Shirley has replaced the audio with the correct night's audio performance and corrected the "mistakes" using pro-tools (something they could not do in the old days). Also he remixed the audio and even added some effects - all to enhance the sound to present the band's live sound closer to what it would have been live (or so they say) because the original was apparently not the best mix. The new CD is an exact copy of the new DVDs soundtrack. So it is definately not part of a remaster effort, but instead a separate project to "revisit" The Song Remains The Same.

The first edition of the first series of mini LPs for the Who (target obis) came with inserts that were pre-punched. A binder and T-Shirt accompanied the release. It is not clear how these were obtained but it seems likely that the small yellow coupon on the obi would have been snipped off and the folder at least was awarded on surrendering the full set of coupons.
