Bolan's Zip Gun didn't even chart in the UK! The singles didn't do too well either (Light of Love - #22, Zip Gun Boogie - didn't chart). Bolan was trying to hard to secure the American market and, in doing so, tried to give some of the songs on this album some 'soul' (which Bowie had done to much better effect on Young Americans). But with titles such as Space Boss and Precious Star, he didn't seem to 'get' what the Americans wanted.

Note: a Zip Gun is an improvised firearm (see cover image).
