Tom Waits - Japan Mini LP CDs (Elektra) 13 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello,

did anyone buy the remastered japan mini lp cds by tom waits? I did, but it seems there are problems with "closing time" - on track 4, "old shoes", is a clicking noise at 0:29 and 0:45, on track 6, "martha", at 0:24 - is that a remastering problem or did I buy a defective copy?
It would be great if anyone could help me with this problem.
(I don't know if some of the other remasters have similar problems, I just listened to "closing time" and "the heart of saturday night" so far)

Hi,
I might be able to help.
I also own this album in the Mini LP edition and I've just listened to Old Shoes (4) and Martha (6).
There is indeed some audible clicks at 0:45 (Old Shoes) and at 0:24 (Martha). I think that these clicks are actually instrument sounds. My explanation is this: The remastering is very loud on the album, and it seems that the vocal and acoustic instruments have been "pushed" to the front to give the listener a kind
of feeling that you're in the studio with the musicians. The remastering
done on this edition simply reveals a lot more than the previous non-Mini LP edition did.
Hope i could help
