Banco del Mutuo Soccorso - Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso

BVCM-37421 (2003)

Undoubtedly one of the oddest covers of all time beautifully reproduced by Strange Days. This oversized "money box" package houses one of the most acclaimed Progressive Rock albums of the 1970's - the hey day of Prog Rock.

Out of print (but other items from this artist may be available)

Cover:

Put simply this is a gatefold cover.

The package appears to be a representation of a turned clay orb with a small nipple at the top.

The front contains a metal plate showing the band's name and has a slot in it towards the top (which is no doubt how it gets its "money box" reputation). There is a tab pushed into this slot. The tab is pulled out and shows faces of the band members.

The back is plain and clearly shows the turned pottery texture.

The inside the gatefold shows the inside of the orb, as if it had been sliced clean through from top to bottom and then opened out.

The left hand side of the gatefold contains lyrics and credits which are unreadable due to the size and contrast of the font (hence the creator(s) of the cover cannot be determined).

The right hand side shows a bearded Aristole-type gent (or is it meant to be Jesus) slain with a sword through his chest.

(I cannot read the credits but according to amg "Design: Mimmo Mellino")

Inserts (additional):Plastic corrugated "cardboard" stiffner.
Lyrics:Italian and Japanese on standard glossy paper foldout.
